THE WARNOCK RANCHES

Eastern & Central Oregon

The Warnock family landed in Oregon in 1879, traveling across half the country in a wagon train from Abilene, Kansas. Saddled with a few horses and very little money, Nancy, a widow and a tough mother of nine, went West to Wallowa County to start ranching. Over the next 150 years, multiple generations of hard work, resilience, and adaptability have allowed the Warnock’s operation to grow in Eastern Oregon and into Central Oregon. The Warnocks have been one of our cooperative’s founding families since 1986.

In the last 68 years, generations of Warnock’s have grown the operation to include land in central Oregon, a larger Sumpter ranch and more numbers of livestock supporting the extended families. They are now Warnock Ranches! They hope to continue to grow their family business to provide good beef for increasing numbers of folk, long into the future. The Warnock’s’ are also one of our cooperative’s founding families.
