KK Ranch, Inc.

Hanaipoe, Hawai’i

Located in the heart of Hanaipoe, Hawai‘i, KK Ranch, Inc. is operated by Jason and
Jerin Ann Moniz, who have been raising cattle and their three sons—JD, Logan, and
Chayce—since acquiring the ranch in 1990 alongside their former partners, the DeLuz
family.

KK Ranch, Inc. carries a rich legacy that dates back to the early 1800s. The ranch spans 52,000 acres under a State of Hawai‘i lease and has been in continuous cattle production since the 1830s. In 1832, King Kamehameha III brought the first three Mexican vaqueros from California to Hanaipoe—now the site of KK Ranch—where they began managing wild cattle, training horses, and teaching Native Hawaiians the skills that gave rise to the paniolo, the Hawaiian cowboy.

Today, KK Ranch remains deeply rooted in this history while embracing regenerative ranching practices. The Moniz family focuses on genetic improvements, invasive species control, and ongoing pasture enhancement to ensure the health and
sustainability of the land.

Jason, a retired veterinarian, enjoys what he affectionately calls “competitive old-timer softball” when he’s not managing ranch operations. Jerin Ann is a passionate
horsewoman and a respected Kumu hula (hula instructor), blending her love of Hawaiian culture with ranch life.
